The Leicester YMCA works predominantly with 16 – 25 year olds who are in need of support and accommodation due to family breakdown, homelessness, leaving care, issues of trauma or abuse, special educational needs or health.
Colab was commissioned to produce a video highlighting the issue of youth homelessness in Leicester, and promoting the work that the YMCA has done with the aim of motivating the audience to donate, fundraise for, and engage with the organisation.
To highlight the positive work that the Leicester YMCA does, we interviewed a group of beneficiaries of the service. In their own words, they had the opportunity to share their success stories and the impact the organisation has had on their lives. Framing the story around their experiences allowed us to show the audience what the YMCA really does for the community, to effectively encourage them to get involved with it.
The Final Product
The video highlights the issue of Leicester’s youth homelessness, and the support they need to get back on their feet through the experiences of YMCA service users and their stories.
