Empowering your workforce through video communications

A picture tells a thousand words. Imagine how many a video would tell.

87% of companies rely on video marketing as part of their strategy.

That's right, 87% with the vast majority stating that video has been instrumental in generating business leads.

You can put everything you love about your company on camera: be it a professional standard of working, satisfied customers or even awards and achievements.

But to be successful in the world of company videos, you must tap into your greatest resources… your people.

Our top tips

Here are a few tips when creating a video regardless of the content to elevate your video above your competitors.

Rather than open with the CEO leading the conversation, consider focusing on key players in the company. They can share their own stories before concluding with a talk from the CEO.

This leads us on to the next point.

You need to ensure that the individual is the focus of the story, offering a unique insight into professional and personal growth.

This enables them to find that work-life balance and see the company not as a job, but as a calling.

Your company values need to be front and centre for everything you do.

Look for people who would best represent your company’s values – the ones who always keep in mind these values with everything they do.

This depends on the type of video. For example, if you’re creating an e-learning video for people, you need confident speakers familiar with the onboarding process.

If you’re approaching customers, you should look for people who have had face-to-face communication experience with workers as well as the regulars.

The longer the relationship, the more beneficial they will be for the video.

Be sure to allocate up to 45 minutes of interviewing time to allow people to get comfortable and able to showcase the best versions of themselves.

It may be that they have a sitting position they’re comfortable with, and a style of talking that conveys the right information.

Making a video can be a nice break from the daily routine, reminding you why you signed up to this company in the first place.

It’s great to remind people not to take themselves too seriously and enjoy the creative process.

You might prefer rapid editing and voice overs to make the workplace feel like a dynamic environment.  Energy needs to be reflected in a fast-paced video that tells viewers all they need to know.

Keep your people front and centre.

Potential customers need to be able to see how employees and customers have been able to thrive as a part of the extended family.
