Our founder and MD, Dan got his big break into the world of videography when ITV offered him some valuable experience working in television as a researcher and camera operator.
2004 Lamoon Media
The foundation of Colab started with Dan’s early career in freelance video production with projects ranging from videos for the music industry to a campaign with the global Wonderbra brand.
Based in Leicester’s Cultural Quarter, before Colab was formed, Dan established a design agency and training company using the values that now define Colab: passion, inventiveness and collaboration. Seed nurtured creativity and created media communications.
2015 Colab Creation
After working with the University of Derby on an exciting online education video project, Dan decided to use his technical skills and expertise to pursue his passion for igniting learning and sharing knowledge through video storytelling, establishing a sole trading video company.
2016 Colab Creation
Within a year, Colab rebranded to become a small company collaborating with a regular team of freelancers and working with long term referral partners from advertising agency Rock Kitchen Harris and their international manufacturer clients Hormann, to Leicestershire County Council.
Lou joined Colab as a full-time videographer, bringing his inventive and passionate approach to video editing and motion graphics across a rapidly expanding portfolio of projects and clients.
After a short internship working with Dan on video content for TEDx Leicester, Nikhil trained with Colab as an apprentice to gain hands-on experience of video production.
Nikhil acquired a variety of skills and experience during his first year and quickly joined the Colab family as an Assistant Shooting Producer. You can hear more about Nikhil’s apprenticeship journey in a video he created with the Leicester Employment Hub:
